Issues That Affect Your Income Potential

MANAGED CARE PENETRATION CHART
If income potential is important to you, then you will need to seek positions in locations where the managed care penetration rate is low. In general, over 30% penetration is considered high. This chart illustrates the levels of managed care penetration for each state (except Georgia). Keep in mind that managed care penetration rates are not constant throughout each state; major cities will have significantly higher managed care penetration rates than smaller cities or rural areas. For example, while Texas has a low managed care penetration rate of 17%, the rate is high in Texas’ larger cities such as Dallas or Houston.
