What We Do For You
MedHIRE is a contingency recruitment firm. Contingency recruiters receive compensation only if a candidate they present is eventually hired.
MedHIRE is a specialized recruitment firm. The vast majority of contingency firms recruit multiple medical specialties, and some even recruit allied health as well. In other words, they are jacks of all trades, masters of none. In contrast, MedHIRE is specialized. We are the only recruitment firm nationwide that exclusively recruits neurosurgeons and neurologists. Above all, this means we understand the neurosurgery/neurology job market, job trends, subspecialties, technology, and the like.
MedHIRE is an established recruitment firm. MedHIRE was founded over 15 years ago, and many of our recruiters were involved in the medical field prior to joining MedHIRE. MedHIRE has numerous contractual relationships that have lasted for years, with practices returning for our services again and again, as the need arises.
The main other type of recruitment firm is a retained firm. A retained firm is compensated up front, whether a physician is hired or not, and is the exclusive recruiter for their client for a contracted period of time (usually one year). Retained firms serve as the agent for a practice and basically operate under the executive recruitment (headhunter) model.
First Contact
We know that our physicians are busy and some may prefer to use email for contact. However, it is crucial that your first contact with your recruiter is by phone . A phone interview gives your recruiter a basic sense of who you are, and more importantly, what you want in a job. Additionally, it is to your benefit to get to know your recruiter as well, since recruiter-candidate relationships are built on trust.
You should expect to be asked about yourself. Most of the questions will be about what you want to do and where you want to practice. Some of our recruiters will use a questionnaire as a guideline, but you can expect that the conversation will be somewhat open-ended. Your recruiter's main goal is to gain enough information to recommend appropriate opportunities for you, and to write an excellent cover letter. If you do not have time to talk when your recruiter calls, please schedule a time. Most first interviews will take anywhere from15-30 minutes.
Opportunities & Recommendations
After you register, you will receive an email notification from MedHIRE that you are activated to login to our opportunity list. Please login regularly, as the list frequently changes. If you see opportunities to which you would like your CV submitted, you may quickly and easily let your recruiter know by checking off the opportunities and clicking on Submit My CV. Your recruiter will then receive an email authorizing him/her to submit your CV to the selected opportunity. (Alternatively, you may email or phone your recruiter.)
Your recruiter will also recommend certain opportunities to you. Since MedHIRE has scores of opportunities, it is easy to overlook some excellent choices that meet all or most of your criteria. You can also expect your recruiter to share with you the obstacles presented by any part of your search criteria.
Even though we are compensated only after we place a doctor, we will not pressure you to consider a position that is completely outside of your search criteria. It does not make good business sense, since unsuitable matches result in a damaged reputation for us. In other words, if you are satisfied, we are satisfied.
CV Submissions
All CV submissions by MedHIRE include a cover letter summarizing your current employment, your medical education, your contact information, what you desire in a position, any ties you have to the location, and the reason you are interested in that particular opportunity. If your search is confidential, we make that clear in the cover letter as well as your preferred method of contact.
Some of our clients require that we clear a candidate prior to submitting their CV. This means that the client wants to confirm that they have not already received your CV from yourself or another recruiter prior to accepting it from MedHIRE. The client also wants to make sure that you match their criteria. Clearing CV's is a top priority for us, and generally takes up to one week.
After your CV is submitted, you will receive an email notification delineating where your CV was submitted and the contact for that opportunity.
Client Feedback
Your recruiter will call the client every week for feedback, and will contact you regularly to share client feedback with you. If the client has interest in you, your recruiter will let you know the next step in the process (e.g., your CV has been passed on to the doctors for review, the client wants to schedule a phone interview, etc.) If the client declines to consider you, your recruiter will let you know the reason. However, be aware that the client does not always share the reason for rejecting a candidate. It is essential that you, too, share any response from the clients with your recruiter so that he/she can follow-up.
Interviews
If onsite interviews are arranged, your recruiter will assist with travel arrangements as requested by you or the client. Your recruiter will also help to prepare you for the interview and will follow-up after the interview to gain feedback from you and the client.
Your Ideal Job
Congratulations you have found a position through MedHIRE! However, our work does not end here. We will continue to follow-up with you and the client all the way up until the day you commence work to ensure that licensure and credentialing are proceeding smoothly.
Terms of Service
About Recruitment Fees, please note: physician candidates will never pay a fee. Our client companies pay all fees and approved visitation expenses. Many hospitals and physician practices choose to utilize recruitment firms rather than paying for expensive advertising campaigns and/or setting up a department which sits idle much of the year. The use of recruitment firms has proven to be efficient and cost effective. The fees that are paid to recruitment firms are budgeted items and do not impact the physician's salaries or income guarantees.
